So, for my house at least, things are going back to normal. I've been back at work since monday, started teaching a new class on wednesday afternoons. Met the australian co-ordinator of said course, who's already asked if if i'd like to keep teaching it NEXT trimester :-D.

And today...today i bought boots. I've been trying to buy a pair of boots for roughly 15 years with no luck. I'm an ex-irish dancer. There's no WAY most boots will fit over my calf muscles *grumbles* pisses me off to no end 'cause i find a.pair of boots that i like and they just won't go over my calf muscles. Well, today i saw a style that i liked. They're sort of a mix between victorian and steam punk. I <3 them. And they come to just BELOW my calves so they fit perfectly!!!!!

My new boots:
You like? I need to get gel inserts for the balls of my feet but that's some really soft leather.

I moved into my new place yesterday. Two (rather nutty) cats, three other people. I'm having fun so far...and I get the place to myself this weekend....bonus!

Today I ran around getting keys cut for the place and buying stuff like sheets, pillows, pj's (most of the stuff I have is micro shorts... there's two guys in here. Gentlemen the both of them but I'd rather get something a little less revealing if I could).

This evening we all went to IKEA for dinner and to do a bit of furniture shopping. I got myself a gorgeous wardrobe (click here for the wardrobe). It was on sale. Normally $299 down to $149. It's big, and it looks like it's got plenty of space for me at the moment. It was the first thing we saw when we walked into the store this evening (and I face-planted into it...don't ask -_-;; )

I also got a Bedside table which I've already put up ^__^. It was fun. Lots of swearing was to be had but I got the damn thing up once I worked out the sides were upside down (seriously, they need an up/down symbol on the bloody things so you can work out what you're doing!). Much banging ensued once I got to the wheels (those things are hard to put on!). It's now sitting in my room with my iPod docking station sitting on it.

Then it was on to the bookshelves. I needs me some bookshelves. I grew up with books. I get a little twitchy when I'm not surrounded by them. My home growing up was practcially wall to wall with books. I've only got one bookshelf so far but I'm sure that'll change once I get more books.

I also got a bedside lamp so that I don't have to rely on the ceiling light anymore. 'Tis pretty!

I'm getting the wardrobe and the bookshelf delievered, as there was no way we were going to fit this stuff into the car. The boxes were too big. They'll arrive on Saturday. I'll put the bookshelf up myself but I'm gonna have to wait until my housemates get home on Sunday evening to get the wardrobe put up. It looks a little too big for one person to construct by themselves...Anyone in Brisbane want to help me? *puppy dog eyes* I'm getting sick of living out of suitcases.

In other news.... I HAVE A JOB!!!!! I'm not quite sure for how long but I have a teaching job for at least one week. Mondays and Thursdays (And the DoS used the plural 's' when she was talking to me on the phone) at the International House on Adelaide street (which is great 'cause I can just run up the street to get to my Uni bus stop on Monday afternoons). There's a cheap Sushi place literally outside the door and an EasyWay tea just up the road (both my addictions serviced quite nicely. I is a happy Sheena). I'm heading in tomorrow to talk to the DoS at 10am to see what she wants/needs me to do. They need to photocopy and certify my certificates, sign contracts, look at/collect the text-books I'll be teaching from, that sort of thing.

I think that's all the news at the moment.

So, life has been going.

I've had an open class for C group (which I was very DO.NOT.WANT!! for. My boss has now learnt my opinion of open classes). I've since walked on the lake (it's iced over). It was kinda scary. I kept thinking the ice was going to break on me. I've been in a blizzard that knocked all my power out for most of the night.

One of the girls in Group I decided that I made a very good pillow one day. I'm standing behind her talking to her partner about some grammar point or other (I think it was Present Perfect) when she just leans back and puts her head on my hip... she then tried to go to sleep.

Wiktoria: You comfortable
Me: O.O.... Why are you leaning on me?
Wiktoria: I'm tired. You comfortable. Night!
Me: O.O .... *puts a hand under Wiktoria's head and lifts it up off her hip* No sleeping on the teacher!
Wiktoria: *puts her head right back on my hip*
Me: *pushes her head off again* No!

Wiktoria's 14, by the way.

Also that class is slightly obsessed with Twilight... okay, more than slightly obsessed. I have to keep confiscating the books in class (12 students and only two of them are boys. They sit together well away from the girls. Poor SÅ‚awek and Dominik). We were doing a unit on film for the last couple of lessons and the girls all declared that Twilight was the greatest film ever (it's replaced Titanic. That was last years' favourite) and that I simply had to watch it. Every time I come into class they ask me if I've seen it yet. I'm half expecting one of them to come in with a pirated copy for me to watch. The lead male (whatever the heck his name is) is "the hottest man in the world" (damn you superlatives unit and teaching them how to say that!) and I simply must look at pictures of him... which they always seem to have at least one of in their bags.

Group I scares me sometimes.

They're not quite as bad as Laura (who was in that group last year) who was certain that Chris Brown (whoever that is) was her husband to be and she'd actually sign her tests Laura Brown. She'd write it in her notebooks and I one or two of the desks still bears her 'signature'.

Also, today I went grocery shopping. I actually braved the butchers section for once and bought myself a slab of mystery meat. Actually managing to get said slab involved much pointing and miming on my part (and the lady's part), but I eventually walked away with a smallish bit of meat with bones in it. I had no idea of what it was, but I'd managed to buy it so I was happy.

I got it home threw it in my casserole dish, covered it in garlic and some oil and then roasted it. 3 hours of slow roast later it was ready to eat.

Identity of the Mystery Meat:

...

Pork (and it was nummy!)

Finally I have a picture for you ^___^. Me walking on the ice (and being very very cautious. I was praying it wouldn't break the whole time I was standing there).

Hey all!

Yes, I know it's been a while, but things have been CRAZY here!

So, it started snowing last month. I must've looked so strange running out and trying to catch snowflakes when I was dressed in probably the least warmest clothing I owned LOL! It melted, but it's  snowed a few times since and the last snowfall we had was really big (it's currently  in the process of melting again).

I had my first ever snowball fight on Thursday. My 'H' group students (11-12 years old). I'd promised  them that the first decent snowfall that we'd go and and pelt eachother with snowballs. They had a test on Thursday and I've been pushing them pretty hard. So, after the test we went out and pelted eachother with snowballs for 15 minutes. It was quite fun watching them trying to formulate attacks in English. Not quite so fun when they ganged up on me, but, hey, they had fun and I had fun so that's all that matters! Now they're trying to talk me into making a massive snowman. I've told them not right now. I'll wait a little while longer before I do something like that with them again ^__^.

Apart from that it's been pretty much work, come home, cook, sleep, plan lessons, cook, work, come home... you get the idea.

Oh, and the sun sets  at freakin' 3:30pm!!!! And, before this week, the sun hadn't  been out in AGES!!! Most of the time it's cold and foggy (or a 'Scottish Mist' as I've heard it called).

I went out tonight. First time I've been out since I got here. I went bar hopping with Agnes...well, a really laid back bar hopping, anyway. We didn't go to that many bars. We were going to go to the Jazz Club but they had some function on so we ended up at this little cottage bar thingy just across the road. Agnes ordered the drinks (as my Polish is next to non-existant. I can say about 10 random words and 2 phrases now). Apparently she told the barmaid that she wanted 'Girly Drinks'. It worked 'cause she came out with these fancy glasses and a drink that tasted like a Tolblerone. After that we got into a taxi and made our way to the bar her fiancee was at. They had pool tables there and I learnt how to play pool ^___^. I won my first game...lost the  rest (but  I did give one guy a run for his money. I was loosing badly and then came from behind and nearly won!). I tried this apple beer, too, which was REALLY nice.

So, tomorrow is probably going to be spent grocery shopping (MCH is closed for some strange reason so I've got to walk 15 minutes to the next shop and get my stuff there), cleaning, and marking the obscenely large pile of test papers that's sitting on my desk.

Next weekend I'm going christmas shopping in Olsztyn.

Oh, and I'm in the process of planning what I'm going to do for winter break. I'll let you know when I've got a better idea.

'Tis most bizarre. For the entire time I've been here it's looked kinda bareish (mum would go and buy food and we'd eat it that night). I actually did fruit and vegatable shopping today (grapes, a lemon, a capsicum, two small onions, and some mushrooms). Plus I got bacon, and chicken nuggets.

PLUS successfully managed to buy two sesame seed rolls from the bakery (leaning over the counter and pointing like a loon to get what I want LOL!) and I've got a few large containers of, well... I'm pretty sure it's soup. At least, it looks like soup... man am I going to feel silly if it ISN'T soup!

I got vermicilli noodles so I can make a vegetable soup out of vegetable stock, vegetables, and other random things thrown in. That should last me a couple of meals, and I've got enough instant noodles to sink a battleship! I'm not even counting the frozen stuff I've got in the freezer (vegetables, one frozen meal thingy that tastes REALLY good!), the kuskus that tastes really good when you shove some base stock in it when it's cooking. I shouldn't have to go shopping for at least a few days.

Plus I got random cleaning products for the apartment (bathtub cleaner, that sort of stuff... Oh! and I got some lemongrass scented bubblebath for when the bathtub's clean!).

And I must not forget the beer! I even got a can of Ginger beer, that's REAL beer!

The people at the shops must've thought I was most odd. I had to do the shopping in two trips and I had a loaded basket both times.

Ooooh. I had a random guy come up and ask me where the tea section was....in POLISH!! The only word I caught was tea, but I was able to drag him to the right section. Felt most proud of myself when I did that.

I've been doing stuff I don't usually do at home. I've done two loads of WASHING!!! (er, yes. I used to wash in China, but never did my own washing in Australia). I'm about to go and fight with the vacuum cleaner (right after I wash up from my VERY nice lunch. Tell you what it was later). I've got all the school textbooks OFF the floor and onto a shelf, and later I might even clear off the coffee table!

So, lunch was the two bread rolls topped with a nut flavoured cottage cheese, edam cheese, bacon (freshly cooked. It still smells like bacon in here), and mushrooms (which had been cooked with the bacon so they tasted luurverly!). Tasted much better than I thought it would, actually. I wasn't sure on the cottage cheesey stuff.

Guess, what I'm doing tomorrow? I'm going horseriding through the woods! Should be fun 'cause the leaves are changing colour around here at an amazing rate! 'Tis so pretty!
