Exactly what inspired you to use Blackboard as your eLearning site? Seriously, it sucks! In the last week it's crashed my web browser about 6 times.

I cannot hit the link back to the previous page because it has issues. I have to hit home and then work my way back through all the bloody links again if I don't want my browser to stop working completely and then shut down on me.

Not good, UQ, not good.

And before you tell me to stop using IE, I don't. It's doing this to me on Firefox...

And must I mention the weird hissing noises and warding signs my housemate makes whenever I mention the site?

I appreciate the fact that I can print out my lecture notes before hand. I can be bemused by the fact that one of my lecturers is trying to do most of the course work solely online (although it smacks of laziness). What I don't appreciate is it crashing on me frequently!

One of my courses requires me to be active on this site. 35% of my marks relies on this.

Fix it.

Now.

Yrs,

Seriously pissed.

If you hadn't guessed, I've decided that I really, really hate Blackboard. I click certain links and my entire web browser shuts down. Every. Single. Time.

In other news work is going well, I'm enjoying it.... it's just that working full time while studying part time at uni is not a good idea. I was so close to walking into walls from exhaustion by Friday it wasn't funny.

I'm also getting behind on my coursework readings. I'm about 3 weeks behind. I spent 6 hours today just reading my Linguistics textbook trying to catch up. It helped a little, some of the stuff is starting to make sense... of course.... I've still got a 2 inch thick pile of readings that I haven't touched for my TESOL course yet. That'll hopefully get done this coming weekend (after I catch up on the two honkin' great big chapters I still have to read for linguistics... I haven't even managed to get the Grammar Survey thingy downloaded and read yet *sigh*.

As much as I'm enjoying the work I think I'm going to have to ask them if they can just give me three shifts a week maximum. Any more than that and I'll be swamped with work.

I clicked on your journal after reading your comment on Mag7 BluRay, and after reading the second part of your post blurted out loud, You're me! It's like reading my own rants. :(

And thank you for that comment on Blackboard - I was thinking of using it for my own classes, but I see that I will have to look into it more carefully.

Now, is that a good thing or a bad thing? *grins* I try not to rant too often (though it seems as though I have been a lot lately). Also in here are anecdotes about student antics, weird classroom happenings ('cause sometimes it isn't always the students *grins*) and random WTFery that I may see in my day....

....

....

... and believe me, I see some really weird stuff sometimes.

Definitely look into it more carefully. It's good in theory, but it's still got a lot of bugs in it (as evidenced by my issues with it...and the strange warding signs my Housemate keeps making).

:) Well, I guess not bad, but I just wish there were more hours in a day, you know? I'm way behind in my reading too, and have exams coming up (to give and take) and I should have already started work on my thesis. So if we can't rant in our journals, where can we rant?

'cause sometimes it isn't always the students </q< Hee, so true! My colleagues can be so wacky at times. Sometimes I wish I had a camera handy! :) I seem to remember you mentioning you teach abroad, correct? Yes, what's good in theory doesn't necessarily work in practice.

No kidding! There just isn't enough time in the day. And when you've got lectures late Monday and Tuesday it only really leaves Wednesday (and I have to work until 2pm) to get a worksheet done for Thursday...and this thing usually takes me 4-5 hours....

...that's not including the readings I'm supposed to be doing on top of this. I just don't have the time!

My lj's saved my sanity on more than one occasion.

What are you studying? (and what do you teach?)

My colleagues at work can be wacky and so can my fellow students at Uni (which reminds me. Must post Tute antics from last night. Was amusing!)

Yup, I teach English overseas on and off. Try clicking the Poland tag on the side of my lj. That'll take you to some of my amusing stuff (Polish firedrills FTW!)

My lj's saved my sanity on more than one occasion. Thank God for LJ.

The uni I work at is a private one, and works closely with a UK one, so all courses are in English. It's a technical uni, with majors like Computer Science, Information Systems, Econ, Electric Engineering and such, but it's branching out to include Political Science as well. I teach English Language 101 and Introduction to Writing 101.

In addition to that, I run the library - lending, making sure instructors get their desk copies, handling orders for the bookstore... I didn't have any experience in Library and Information Science, so now I'm trying to catch up on that on my own, plus attending LIS postgrad lectures. I'm at the end of my second year, and I'm lucky if I can get 5 hours of sleep at night. (It just so happens to be 3:35 a.m. at the moment).

I'll check your tag - I could always use some more amusing stuff!
