*squeeeeel* I'm going to the premier of Troy!! WAHOOOOOO!!!!! The Classics and Ancient History society at uni (which I keep thinking that I should join but can't really see the point considering that I'm graduating at the end of this term) has booked 100 seats at the Southbank Imax theatre for the premiere of Troy.

That's one huge-arsed screen... *giggles maniacally*

And Van Helsing is coming out in about two weeks *dances again* (Note to self: Watch 60 Minutes this sunday, Hugh Jackman is getting interviewed).

Must also start writing again. Megan says that some of the people reading Bloodlines are getting a little narky at us, we haven't updated in a while...

I've also got Reptiles to keep writing. I'm going to have to sit down and watch JPII again, get the ideas flowing again... AND finish watching Gundam Wing. 3 dvd's left, not that much when you think about it, but with all the assignments.

Speaking of assignments, if I EVER mention that I'm thinking of doing some sort of poetics subject ever again, please, shoot me. I mean that. Who would've thought that it would end up being the most assesement heavy subject that I'll ever do.

Oh, anyone got any ideas what I should do my Alexander assignment on? I've got a choice of either doing these:

A. The Battle of Gaugamela. Critically evaluate the source tradition for this engagement and give an appreciation of Alexander's generalship

(sounds kinda interesting...)

B. What features of Tomb II at Vergina suggest that the occupants were of royal status?
Does the archaeological evidence correlate with the literary tradition of the death of Philip II
If not, can the occupants of the tomb be plausibly identified?

(I could do this one, it'd be a bit of a headache getting all the info... could be fascinating though...)

(You know, a few years ago the thought of studying dead bodies would've horrified me. I couldn't even walk past the skull in the Michie building without flinching... Now I stop and examine it.
That and I find things like Alexander stabbing a friend with a serisa, huge arsed spear thingy, 16ft long, in a drunken rage giggle worthy is kind of disturbing. I would have been horrified by it a few years ago. Is this normal? Am I weird? Or am I just getting too used to this sort of thing happening in the sources?)

C. "Then the persons who had reported the affair came forward, with various irrefutable proofs of his own guild and that of his fellow-onspirators, of which the most damning was that he had admitted knowledge of a plot against Alexander but had said nothing about it." (Arrian 3.26.2)
Explain why Arrian comes to this conclusion about Philotas' "Conspiracy", and assess the relative value of the source tradition for the episode.

(Okay, after getting my Gobbets exam back it's quite possible that I really should do this one. I seem to be pretty good a correlating sources and spotting discrepancies... Maybe I should... It made for an interesting tute topic anyway. Consparacies within conspiracies within.. well, you get the point. No one knows what the hell was going on really).

D. Analyse the source tradition relating to Alexander's attempted introduction of proskynesis, and discuss the possible motives for the experiment.

(er... prosky WHAT?! If I knew what the bloody word meant I might think of doing this one, maybe).
