Feis Report
May. 30th, 2004 02:10 pmWell, I had the Crocker Feis on Friday night. It was a good feis... a REALLY good feis *grin*. I haven't had one like that since I moved up into open a few years ago!
Anyway, we left home at about 4pm to get there on time (peakhour traffic can be a killer at times. You should've seen some of the weird looks I got from passing cars. I had my wig on, with hair net, and my crown/cloth tiara thingy- don't ask me what it's name is. I just call it the annoying thing). Got there about 5:30ish, actually it was probably later than that but I couldn't see the clock). Actually it was probably good that we got there so early 'cause I got time to do the first decent warmup at a feis I've done since the State titles last year.
Anyway, turns out we weren't starting till 6:30 (and I thought it was 6pm, hence the getting there so early).. Which was good. I got to warm up and socialize with all the other girls etc.
Okay. First up was Slip Jig. I was a little worried about this one 'cause on Tuesday night I couldn't even dance a full one 'cause my Achilles tendon was playing up something chronic. Anyway, I got through the dance quite well... surprisingly well, I was actually gliding the whole way through it. I didn't place in this dance. I wasn't expecting to though.
Next up was my Jig. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw in the program that I was dancing on stage with Dayvyyd (How DO you spell that? I haven't got a program anywhere near me). I mean, this guy's placed in the freakin' WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS!!!!! I think, though, after actually dancing with him, that I want to get stuck onstage with him all the time. The only thing that was going through my head the whole time was "Must dance louder, must dance louder!!". I did the best jig that I've ever danced! I knew that if I didn't pull SOMETHING out of my arse I was going to be completely shown up by him and the judge wasn't going to watch me at all. I placed 2nd in the Jig.
Final dance was my set: Downfall of Paris at 113 (well, it was supposed to be 113. My teacher forgot the cd so I think I ended up doing it at about 107 or so. I actually managed to pull it off too!). Got the surprise of my life when I found out that I'd actually won the Set. I was so surprised that I forgot to go and get my trophy, I just walked over to the line where all the other place getters were standing and then realized after about a minute that I had to go and get the trophy... oops... (yes, trophy ^_^. I got a trophy *bounces happily*. I like trophy's they're cool!).
Then on Saturday mum and I went to the movies. We saw Van Helsing 'cause she hadn't seen it yet. I had, but I really didn't mind. Know what the best thing was? We had the ENTIRE cinema to ourselves! Then we went and hired out the Return of the King DVD.
Later!
