Well, I'm definately feeling a lot more cheerful than I was the last time I posted.
An update on my graduation: My name is up on the list of eligeble (how DO you spell that) graduates. *cheers*
Went to the Abbey Medieval Tournament yesterday. I had a ball! I was dressed up in a green dress, white underdress, stocking socks (which really weren't period buy I couldn't really give a damn), and I had my sunglasses bag tied to the white rope belt thing I was wearing to sort of double as a money purse. When the sun was out the costume was rather warm, not as bad as an Irish dancing solo dress though so I was still pretty comfortable in it. When the sun went away and the rain was falling and there was blowing wind the dress was nice and warm ^_^.
I got myself a necklace while I was there. A small (I think it's bronze. It makes a funny tinking noise when you tap it so it's some kind of metal) coin that I think is either viking or something in origin. It's been transformed into a necklace and the guy I bought it off put it on a strip of leather that you can adjust the length of. I've got it up as a chocker at the moment. There's a celtic style horse, bird and a stylized face on there. It went really well with the dress I was wearing.
Oh, I have pictures of the day (including me holding a honking great big axe that I kept trying to knock myself out with by just carrying it). I just need to finish the film on my camera and get it developed.
And, I got to try MEAD!!! I like it. I ended up having two cups of it. First cup I had with a venison pie (VERY nice. I actually got two, the first one I dropped before I even got to eat it. One of the guys who was with the stall got me another one).
I had the interesting experience of looking down at my feet at one point to discover that they were steaming. That was really weird. Funny, but weird.
I got to take part in the demonstration for one of the re-enactment groups (they needed some more women). That was interesting. Especially since it started pouring rain just as it was starting. The women were hiding underneath a cloth that wasn't exactly waterproof.
Actually, it rained on and off most of the day. It was fun running from one tent to another whenever it was raining.
Got home that afternoon and the people I was at the thing with stayed for a cuppa and chatted for a while. Then I had to go and have a quick shower and get ready to go out again.
I discovered my graduation present from my parents. My own blanket made out of Chashmere wool and actually made in Cashmere. It's really, REALLY light but so warm! My mum's got one (from India) and I've been eyeing it off for ages. Mum and Dad got it for me 'cause they know that I intend travelling at some point and that I feel the cold. It's light enough that I can take it with me anywhere.
Anyway, had a shower to get the smell of woodsmoke out of my hair and then we went out again. Mum and Dad took me out to dinner to a chinese/vietnamese restaurant. The food was absolutely nummy but the service sucked. We've been there a few times and the service has been getting worse and worse every time we go there. Beautiful food though.
Got home and literally collapsed into bed. I don't even remember putting my head on the pillow!
Well, that's how my weekend went. Tiring, but fun.

Date: 2004-07-11 09:19 pm (UTC)So am I. If my name hadn't turned up on that list by tomorrow I was going to ring up the graduations department to see what the hell was going on. AND if they said that I wasn't eligible (spelt it right) to graduate I was going to kick up the biggest stink you'd ever seen!
Are you going to the ceremony?
Yup. It's on at the same time as my tuesday night dancing classes (both teams and solo's). We've been told that if we don't have a very good reason for not turning up to them we'll be rather dead. I've already told my teacher I won't be there, apparently graduation is a good enough excuse. *grins*

I had a ball! There was the cute guy who stared me out when I was looking at his costume later inthe after noon (high cheekbones, red hair, piercing blue eyes, bit of a gotee. Looked like Robin Hood).

When I get them developed I will!
