..... English language students and my eyes?!

 2005/6, China:

Student: I was at a seminar the other day and that teacher had blue eyes... but my teacher's got yellow eyes! Why?!
Me: *trying to keep a straight face and hold in the giggles* Sweetie, my eyes are brown.
Student: No, they're not.
Me: *walks outside quickly so I don't laugh in front of everyone*


Fast forward to today (well, wednesday). We were doing speaking practice where they had to go around asking eachother set questions and they had to answer them. Well, one of the set questions was "Has anyone ever told you what beautiful eyes you have?"

This is how the conversation went:

Student (to me): Has anyone ever told you what beautiful eyes you have?
Me: No...I've got brown eyes. You don't really get beautiful brown eyes.
Student: I'm serious. You has got nice eyes
Me: Have got nice eyes, not has got. You use 'has' when there's more than one person. Have is the singular, and they're brown.
Student: They're not brown! They're the colour of beer!
Me: *blink*blink*

So, apparently I have been mistaken all these years. My eyes aren't brown. They're either yellow, or the colour of beer so... amber?

I'm highly tempted to take a close up picture of my eyes, post it, and do a poll on what everyone else thinks my eye colour is as I have obviously been living under a cloud of mis-conception these last 25 years *laughs*.

 Right, so throw me a comment and tell me what you think my eye colour is. I always thought brown *grins*

That's what he said. I then heard one of the other girls go "What did you say?!, or the equivalent of some such, in Polish... he repeated it in Polish (I know 'cause I heard him say Piwo, which means 'Beer')

Yea. Alot of her student have really dark eyes as well, so her light brown ones are oddities to some of them having just come from the refugee campy thingys.

Well.. hahaha. must be true then. XD;;;

All right...I have a pair of earrings with round, dark amber stones (they're real, and from Mexico). I went and got them and held them up to the pictures of your eyes and guess what?

You have dark amber-colored eyes. :D

Hmm, here they look a lot darker brown around the middle , but I still can see the amber around the outer part of the iris. There are some flecks of gold in there too.

I bet you're one of those people whose eye color varies depending on what color you're wearing and your mood? ^__^

In any case, you have very pretty eyes, which I bet is why you're getting so many comments on them from students. ^___^

So, yep. That's me. about 5'4 3/4" (Nearly 5'5"), long curly hair (to just below my shoulder blades), and apparently not brown eyes *grins*.

There are some flecks of gold in there too.

Yup. Mood, clothing colour, heck even the current lighting all play a part what they look like at the time ^____^. They look lighter during the day time (or a camera when a camera flash gets close enough)

In any case, you have very pretty eyes, which I bet is why you're getting so many comments on them from students. ^___^

Thank you ^________^. I'd never actually paid much attention to them. I'd just figured, they're brown *shrug*. But this was the second time a student had actually gone out of their way to comment about their colour (I got a lot of "Oh, wow! big brown eyes!" comments when I was younger).

Yay! It's so cool to know what you look like! :D :D You're so lucky to have curly hair-mine is stick straight no matter what I do, so I let it grow long and be that way. =P

And yes, you do have flecks of golden brown (which isn't anywhere close to being yellow, btw!)
