Sunburn is EVIL!!!
Feb. 7th, 2004 07:37 pmHey all!,
Well, I did the right thing, went and voted today (not that I really had a choice. Voting is compulsory here in Australia *pulls a face*). I'm just lucky the closest place is just down the road from me. It's just a few minutes walk each way.
Unfortunately today was a clear day, not really that many clouds around. Which meant the weather was warm. So, I'm walking along (thinking that everything was fine) got to the place, voted, ducked down to the shopping center to get something cold to drink (and something to eat, I'd forgotten to grab breakfast), then walked back home.
Everything was perfectly fine until I decided to have a shower. I was sunburnt. Didn't really look like much, just a little red - nothing to worry about there right? Wrong. We had to go out this afternoon (pretty boring all in all, no one really my age to talk to, no matter how well I get along with people older than me). By about halfway through the thing I was getting worried looks from one of the ladies, my sunburn was getting really red, I mean lobster red. I swear, right now I could cook an egg on my shoulders.... hmm... interesting mental image there, not sure if I should be worried about that or not though.
Anyway, I was lucky that Nancy (the lady's place we were at) had an aloe vera plant. She cut off a bit of it for me. I'd forgotten exactly how much unprocessed Aloe Vera reeked. *holds her nose*. I think I prefer the bottled stuff, it smells nicer.
So, that was my day. I'm a lovely shad of lobster red on my neck, arms and face, and it stings.
Oh, and if you ever get to use Aloe Vera straight from the plant pack a peg. The stuff smells ^_^
