Got my Bloch's
Feb. 13th, 2004 05:19 pmWell, I went to Indro and got my Bloch dance sneakers today (aparently it was the only store in Brizzy, possibly even qld that sell them). Got them to match my new Solo dress *grin* (which is Black, red, with multi-toned red and orange flames. It's got white dragons on the front and they're breathing fire. Everything is outlined in sequince). So I have black and red bloch sneakers.
They're actually kinda cool. Comfortable at least, though I'm gonna have to be careful on my twists 'cause the heels keep catching on me and I'll end up stacking it face first into the floor. Not that I don't fall over a lot anyway. I'm well known for stacking it at dancing (I'm famous for my falls *giggles* Feet go flying over my head and I slam down on my back. Kinda painful really). I stacked it at a feis once and all the girls from my school could do was laugh and go "Well, Sheena's on the floor... again".
I'll be able to wear them for warmups, soft shoe, and I can actually overtoe in them too! Bonus! Means I might be able to wear them for hardshoe too.
I wanna go to the movies, but what I really want to see isn't coming out on video till St. Paddy's day. (Pirates of the Caribbean, yes I'm obsessed. You'll be hearing me harping on about that until it comes out.)
We went into one of the video stores in Indro (Ezy DVD, I think it might be called) and they had this huge cardboard standee of Captain Jack Sparrow (with Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann on the other faces). The employees had a bit of a laugh when I grinned at them and tried to sneak out the door with it (in full view of them *giggles*). Wasn't very succesful but we all had a good laugh. I can't even put my name down for it, it's already been barred for someone else. Damn.
Cousin's gone to stay with his parents for the weekend. He'll be back Sunday night. Well, I'll get one days sleep in anyway. I'm tired, I just want to fall asleep on my feet (Was dozing off on the train on the way home) and it's not even dark yet!

Date: 2004-02-13 08:48 pm (UTC)It is *grins* what's better is that I helped design it. I drew what I wanted and the lady who made it fiddled until it would work as a dress. It's so light too! I can hold the damn thing between two fingers!
I remember when I bought my soft shoes (I'm not quite up to hardshoe yet) I called this place and the lady tried convincing me that highland shoes were the same as soft shoes and I'm thinking "yeah right, give me a break!"
Careful with the buying softhshoes thing. First pair of softshoes that I ever bought were a 6 1/2. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too big. I wear a 3 1/2 now. Highland shoes are NOT the same as Irish soft shoes. They've got a longer toe for one thing.
I got my soft shoes from All that Glitters at Hawthorne though so it was all good.
That's where I usually get my hardshoes from (and soft shoes). She's really nice! She's always at the feiseanna and she can pick what size shoe you wear just from looking at your feet. That's for both soft and hardshoe. I always make sure that I stop off at her stall and have a chat to her whenever I'm at a feis.

Blochs are a dance sneaker. They were used by jazz and modern dancers originally but we Irish dancers have sorta adopted them too. You don't wear them in competition (breathe a sigh of relief, they're not ANOTHER type of shoe that you have to buy). You can wear them for both soft shoe and hard shoe when you're practicing. They're padded and look kinda like a sneaker. I've been injuring myself a lot lately so that's why I bought them.
